Arsene Wenger’s side had to rely on the dreaded penalty shoot-out to defeat plucky Wigan Athletic and they will now face either Hull City or Sheffield United in the final itself.
Some transfer speculation has stirred something of a reaction from them as talkSPORT indicate that Gunners and Chelsea target Jackson Martinez is yet to begin talks with interested parties over a future move.
The Colombian international is very highly-rated by punters in the tavern after some classy performances for FC Porto since joining the club from Mexican outfit Chiapas in 2012.
In recent weeks speculation has been rife about interest intensifying from England but his agent has now denied any talk of him leaving in the near future.
“At the moment there is not any kind of negotiation for Jackson Martinez,” he is quoted as saying on TMW.
“Until May we will not talk with any team. He’s focused on the end of the season with Porto – once the championship is finished we will see.”
Wenger could face competition from Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho who may see Martinez, who is valued at around £25 million, as the answer to his striking crisis at Stamford Bridge.
