The two clubs, both domestic champions in their respective nations last term, have endured an indifferent start to the new campaign. Chelsea sit 16th in the Premier League, with just eight points, whilst Barcelona have already lost two league games and have been rocked by injuries.
Due to their respective issues, reports indicate both clubs will step-up their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos as they attempt to complete a move for the Brazilian in January.
Marquinhos is unhappy with his playing time in the French capital having started just four of his side’s Ligue 1 matches, leaving the door wide open for a big-money move in the New Year.
Both clubs would have to pay over £23m for the Brazilian, as PSG want a profit on the figure they paid Roma in 2013, but Jose Mourinho and the Chelsea fans in the bar are desperate for a move to be completed.
