Whilst Man Utd and Chelsea had very little to fight for between each other this season, that seems likely to change this summer…
According to Don Balon, both clubs reportedly remain keen on Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata. Significantly, according to Don Balon, both clubs are willing to stump up the money and game time that would be essential in any potential deal – leaving those in the pub confident that a move for Morata could be made sooner rather than later from either club.
Morata has hardly been a regular at Real Madrid this season, which is disappointing given how good he truly is. A technical magician, Morata is excellent with the ball at his feet, and as his goalscoring record suggests, he is absolutely lethal in front of goal. He has scored 15 goals this season despite starting just 14 times in La Liga, highlighting just how efficient he really is.
A move makes sense for both clubs, too. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract is set to expire, whilst Wayne Rooney has struggled at Man Utd as of late, and so Jose Mourinho likely has targetted Morata as a means of solving his offensive issues ahead of next season.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are in desperate need for offensive depth – with the poor form of Diego Costa and the return of the Champions League on the horizon next season.
Our landlord thinks that whoever lands Morata will be amongst the title contenders next season – he is that good.
