Chelsea and Sarri should snap up this Italian defensive ace in January as long term Cahill replacement

The next few months promise to be an exciting period for Chelsea, who have gotten off to a superb start to their Premier League campaign this year.

Manager Mauro Sarri has brought his style of play into the club with relative ease, and the Blues genuinely do appear to be a threat to Manchester City’s crown.

However, in order to keep competing, the Blues need to keep adding new players, and with a few players such as Gary Cahill coming to the end of their careers, we think a central defender has to be high on Sarri’s agenda in January.

One man we think Chelsea should be looking to sign is AC Milan ace Alessio Romagnoli, who is already showing signs of developing into one of the next great Italian defenders.

Italy are famed for their defenders, with the likes of Baresi, Maldini, and Nesta all donning the AC Milan jersey, and Romagnoli would appear to be on his way to fitting right in with this elite group.

Romagnoli might well be tempted to make the jump to England to work with a coach like Sarri, and he would certainly appear to have all the attributes to be considered a success in the Premier League.

Young enough to improve but good enough to come straight into the first XI, Romagnoli would be a superb addition for the Blues if they can indeed manufacture a deal.

Chelsea fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
