Chelsea and Tottenham fight for £29m striker

MartinezChelsea and Tottenham Hotspur fans have escaped the wet weather with a few drinks in the Transfer Tavern and they’re united to discuss some potentially exciting transfer reports.

The Daily Mirror states the two Premier League sides are chasing Atletico Madrid’s £29m summer recruit Jackson Martinez, who has failed to impress in Spanish football so far.

Colombian striker Martinez, who starred with Porto previously, has scored just three goals in 12 appearances as he struggles to become a permanent fixture in Diego Simeone’s side, facing immense competition from the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Luciano Vietto.

According to reports, Simeone is ready to cut his losses on the player in January and approve a move to the Premier League.

Chelsea are desperate for high-profile signings to save their season, as they sit 15th with just 19 points heading into tomorrow’s crunch tie with Manchester United, whilst Tottenham have been searching for the ideal partner for Harry Kane.

If both London clubs could offer the South American ace regular first-team football, then it’s stated Martinez would jump at the chance to move to England.
