Chelsea are reportedly hesitant to secure deal for 23-year-old, may only happen on one condition

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern think that Michy Batshuayi has been harshly treated by Antonio Conte this season…

Largely a peripheral figure under the Italian, Batshuayi wasn’t really given a real chance until the Blues had already wrapped up the Premier League title. When he was given a chance, though, he took it with both hands – eventually coming off of the bench and scoring the goal that sealed the Premier League trophy for the Blues.

For many in the pub, then, Batshuayi has now earned his stripes at the club, and they think that he deserves far more of a chance next season.

At present, though, Batshuayi’s future is looking very unclear. He has recently come out and spoken about his future, according to the Guardian, and has noted that he cannot sit on the bench for another season in fear of missing out on the World Cup next year. Significantly, though, the Mirror are today reporting that the Belgian may NOT be allowed to leave the club this summer in search of regular football. According to the Mirror, Chelsea will only let him leave the club if they find a replacement, and whilst the Blues are actively working on this, that is far from a sure thing.

That is certain to frustrate Batshuayi, who not only clearly deserves game time, but has also set himself the goal of representing his country at the 2018 World Cup. That being said, though, you can certainly understand Chelsea’s perspective, with Batshuayi clearly an important if underutilised figure.

It is looking set to be a very important summer for Chelsea this summer, with lots of incomings and outgoings. Provided that the club sign a replacement, our landlord is expecting Batshuayi to leave the club, albeit temporarily, though he is expecting far more movement too.
