Fans from across the London divide in the Transfer Tavern are discussing the chances of their club landing a top signing this summer, after a move was confirmed that helps the trio of English clubs in their quest to sign a big name.
The Independent states Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are braced for a bidding war in the quest to land the services of Alvaro Morata, with it confirmed yesterday that Real Madrid have activated a buy-back clause in the striker’s contract with Juventus.
Morata currently tops the scoring charts at Euro 2016 alongside Gareth Bale, having hit a brace against the Czech Republic and scoring the opening goal in Spain’s defeat to Croatia last night, which has only raised the valuation of the 23-year-old.
Real Madrid are expected to sell Morata on for a profit, having spent £23.5m to bring him back from Turin, and the Premier League seems a likely destination, with a host of clubs eyeing the talented striker’s services.
The Times says Chelsea are leading the race for the player’s services, although our landlord is questioning that claim due to the Blues lack of Champions League football.
