There are delighted faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by the Daily Express that Chelsea have been given the green light in their race for Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao.
The publication claim that the West London side are about to be handed a massive boost in their race for the player as Real Madrid have pulled out of the race for the Colombian, and his arrival at the Bridge would prompt those betting on football to heavily back Chelsea ahead of next season.
It had been thought that Atletico Madrid’s cross-city rivals would eventually land their man yet now given the latest news that Los Blancos have pulled out of the running, Chelsea and Jose Mourinho seem to have been given the all clear to lure the forward to Stamford Bridge.
Falcao is as we all know simply out of this world and for Chelsea to land him would be a huge coup and certainly a marquee signing to welcome Jose Mourinho home. The forward has 30 goals thus far this season in all competitions and has been instrumental in Atleti’s challenge for the top places in La Liga. The move to the Bernabeu was thought to have broken down over the wage demands of the player who is unwilling to negotiate below £6.7 million per season – something Real are unwilling to pay – but Chelsea are more than happy to stump up the cash.
Will Falcao be the icing on top of the cake for Chelsea this summer? Rate this rumour below.
