Chelsea ‘big admirers’ of prime Man United target

maneeeeeChelsea and Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have had to be separated by our landlord, after they clashed once they’d read the latest transfer news concerning their clubs.

The Mirror says that Chelsea are ‘big admirers’ of Southampton’s Sadio Mane, a prime target for Manchester United, and the Blues have joined the hunt for the signature of the attacker in January.

Chelsea have experienced the talents of the 23-year-old Senegalese international first-hand after he scored in the Saints 3-1 victory over the Blues last month, whilst overall he has scored six times in 17 games so far this campaign.

Jose Mourinho’s side are struggling in front of goal and want to improve their options, whilst United have similar aspirations as they look to improve on their squad that’s pushing for the Premier League title, and the interest of both English giants will drive-up Southampton’s asking-price.

Southampton’s price is likely to be sky-high already, with the South Coast club desperate to keep him on their books and lining-up a new contract for Mane to help them achieve their aims.

Saints fans aren’t confident he’ll tie himself down though, as both United and Chelsea can offer Champions League football, whilst the Saints endured disappointed in their ill-fated Europa League qualification campaign this season.

Chelsea fans, can you beat United to Mane’s signature? Let us know in the comments below!
