Chelsea fans are looking up with mass enthusiasm here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
This is after the Daily Telegraph claimed that Wayne Rooney is still a transfer target for Jose Mourinho this summer.
The forward is out of contract next summer and is looking for one final big deal at 28-years-old.
As our landlord sits behind the bar and tells us of the specials on offer today, he also gives us a run down of the situation involving Rooney and of course the self confessed Special One.
Mourinho feels that given the situation at Old Trafford these days under Moyes, he would be able to realistically push for the forward in the summer.
The alternative options put to Mourinho have not impressed him one bit and the manager is keen to hold out for the England international, who of course has been one of the best players this season – not only at Old Trafford, but in the whole Premier League.
Should United fail to break into the top four, that will of course strengthen Chelsea’s potential bid for Rooney even further, with the forward wanting to play in the elite competition in club football.
One of our punters also notes at this point that United would probably be in need of the cash as well!
Is this summer the time when Wayne Rooney will finally pledge farewell to Old Trafford? Let us know your thoughts below.
