It’s been a busy day for Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
Metro are adding to the drama with the claim that Kevin De Bruyne’s dream move to Borussia Dortmund was blocked by Jose Mourinho.
The Blues manager has come under criticism from De Bruyne since his eventual move to Wolfsburg, and now the former Chelsea starlet has hit out once again.
De Bruyne claimed that he was dreaming of a move to BVB, yet because Mourinho was unable to land Robert Lewandowski, he would not allow the German side to acquire any of his men.
The Belgian international spoke about his £17 million move to Wolfsburg, and noted: “This is professional football.
“Where there is a lot of money involved. So sometimes strange decisions are made.”
As one of our punters notes, this is not the first time De Bruyne has spoken out about his former club and Mourinho in a negative way. We think that it smacks of sour grapes given the midfielder had chance after chance and could not deliver for the club.
Chelsea meanwhile are still in the hunt for a top forward and will of course miss out on landing Lewandowski with the Polish forward having already agreed to join Bayern Munich in the summer.
What do we make of this? Clearly De Bruyne is bitter. We wonder what his current club Wolfsburg must make of these comments! Let us know your thoughts below.
