Chelsea boss fires warning to young starlet over future in first team

ruben loftus cheekChelsea fans are eager to hear what Sky Sports have to say in the Football Transfer Tavern as they seem to think that the Blues are not allowing one of their young stars sit on their laurels.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek may have been told he will be getting a first team spot next season but after failing to impress Jose Mourinho during Chelsea’s post season tour, the manager had some harsh words for the kid.

Mourinho claimed: ‘He has to learn that at 19 you have to run three times more than the others, you have to play to your limits and not play like a superstar with the ball at your feet because this is not Under-18s.’

We think that Loftus-Cheek still has a huge future at the club and that Mourinho is simply trying to remind him that there is so much he needs to still do and stop any wasted potential that so many young stars have fallen foul to in the past after becoming complacent and being too good too young.

Should Chelsea keep to their word and offer him the chance to really break into the first team next season, we think the sky is the limit for Loftus-Cheek, as long as he works harder than Mikel that is!

Chelsea fans. Is this just Mourinho bringing the young star back down to earth after he had a brilliant end to the season? Let us know your thoughts below.
