The Daily Star have just made the debate in the Football Transfer Tavern that little bit more interesting.
The paper claims that Jose Mourinho has spoken to Thibaut Courtois and may well have given him some assurances over his future in order to keep him at Stamford Bridge.
The player, who is at Atletico Madrid on loan for the third successive season noted that the Chelsea boss spoke to him about his future, and also made it clear that he is not destined for a life on the bench at Stamford Bridge.
He claimed: “I don’t let myself be affected by what people say. I’m under contract with Atletico de Madrid until June and have two more years on my deal at Chelsea.
“I’m in Chelsea’s plans and I don’t think they’re willing to sell me. I think some people are trying to unsettle the team, but I’m relaxed.”
Atleti are not the only club who are keen on landing the player permanently and as our punters note over a beer, local rivals Real Madrid have also been sniffing around.
Will Courtois seize the number one spot at Chelsea next season or will Mourinho keep Cech as his first choice? Let us know your thoughts below.
