Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been left shocked with the news that Jose Mourinho is launching a £37 million bid for Sami Khedira.
Metro claim Mourinho is interested in the German defensive midfielder and believe the Special One could ready a bid before the World Cup.
Khedira has struggled to break back into the Real Madrid first eleven since returning from injury and many believe it could be the beginning of the end for the 27-year-old.
Khedira was initially signed under Mourinho in 2010 just two months into his tenure at the Spanish giants.
He became a firm favourite under the Portuguese manager following that £10 million deal from German club Stuttgart.
Mourinho went on to win the league title and Spanish Cup during his time at Real Madrid and it’s believed that Jose is keen to work with the German again.
And it is likely that the feeling will be more than mutual after Khedira described himself as one of Mourinho’s disciples just a couple of years ago.
Chelsea Charlie, one of our resident Blues fanatics, has just piped up to say what about Nemanja Matic?
And the old man has a really good point.
Matic joined the West Londoners from Benfica in January for £21 million but his signing has not stopped Mourinho looking around for yet another defensive midfielder.
Chelsea fans. What do you think of the proposed signing of Khedira? Seems awfully expensive to us here in the tavern. Let us know your thoughts below.
