Chelsea boss informs club staff managerial appointment is secured

ConteChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are gathering on the sofas as they await official confirmation of news we’re all expecting, that would see their next long-term manager appointed.

Corriere Dello Sport have added more fuel to the reports today as they’ve stated Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has informed the club’s staff that Antonio Conte will arrive after this summer’s European Championship.

Conte is leading the Italian national side into this summer’s tournament, where the 2006 World Cup winners will be looking to bounce back after an abysmal World Cup performance two years ago and go one better than their 2012 runners-up position.

However, following the tournament, Conte wants to return to club management, where he previously endured plenty of success with Juventus, and Chelsea’s players have also been told the deal is in place.

Conte has won eight Serie A titles during his career as a player and a manager, which has led to renewed optimism amongst the Chelsea contingent at the bar as they believe he’s capable of rivalling the Premier League’s big guns next season.

Our landlord doesn’t think it’s that simple and reckons it could take a year for Chelsea to be back to their best but he still expects the Blues to be competitors under Conte’s guidance.

Chelsea fans, are you expecting imminent success under Conte? Let us know in the comments below!
