This morning in the Football Transfer Tavern, we know we have a pretty good story when our punters stop perusing the specials board and actually go over to see the landlord and read about the latest claim from the Daily Star.
The publication is under the impression that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will not be splashing the cash this transfer window – despite having a rather gaping hole up top in his squad.
This is despite the links between Chelsea and Wayne Rooney – and also the rumours of a Eden Hazard summer departure.
The Blues boss spoke before today’s early kick off against Hull City and noted: “I think we have a chance to win.
“If we do that we are top of the league for a few hours.
“I keep saying that the most important thing for us is to secure a position in the top four.”
The Chelsea manager further clarified his thought process and spoke about his previous time at the club – and the much talked about legacy he left.
Many of our punters would agree Mourinho was a huge part of Chelsea even after he left and one even goes as far as to put down his pint and say he was there as a ghost until the day he officially returned.
Mourinho further noted: “We are preparing the team for another period of success.
Will the Chelsea manager stay true to his word and refrain from signing anybody this January? Let us know your thoughts below.
