Chelsea boss not interested in emulating Arsenal triumph

Mourinho wants it desperately Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking up with some amusement on their faces after the Daily Star seem to think that Jose Mourinho is not feeling particularly festive.

The Blues boss has made it very clear that going unbeaten for the entire 2014/15 season certainly falls quite far down his list of priorities.

The Portuguese tactician, whose side remain unbeaten in the Premier League, will not be playing for a draw just to keep up the record achieved by Arsenal in 2003/4.

“If you play for that, if that is one objective, maybe you draw so many matches and you don’t take risks to try and win matches. You are happy just to be undefeated.

“If you get 10 draws, you get 10 points. If you win five and lose five, you make 15 points. I’d prefer 15 points and lose some matches than 10 points and be undefeated.

“We don’t focus on that – we don’t. If we have a 0-0 with 20 minutes to go (against Spurs), we are not going to play for the 0-0 to be undefeated after 21 matches. No way.

“We are going to play matches to win. Sometimes, we will lose.”

Now as our punters note, we think that Mourinho has a point with trophies representing something far more important in the grand scheme of things.

Going unbeaten for a season only seems to be something that Arsenal fans here in the tavern are truly concerned over preserving in the history books.
