Chelsea fans are finally hearing the news they have waited for here in the Football Transfer Tavern and is comes courtesy of The Express.
The paper claims that Jose Mourinho has decided to not only move for Radamel Falcao this winter, but will also use Fernando Torres as bait to do this.
As one of our punters quips at the bar, that is almost like a two birds with one stone deal!
The Blues have struggled for goals this season and know that in order to win the title – and possibly the Champions League – they need a world class forward.
Falcao may cost a pretty penny, but would not be Champions League tied, and is a proven goal scorer.
Torres may have looked like something resembling the Torres of old this season, but he has still not fully convinced. Mourinho may publically support his forwards, but knows that a change needs to be made in the winter.
Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba have both disappointed as well, and the only striker on form is the one on loan at Everton.
This week, Mourinho went to see Falcao play in Colombia’s friendly with Belgium and is keener than ever to land the forward. During his time as manager of Real Madrid, he was a huge fan of the forward, yet due to the non aggression pact between the two clubs in Madrid, he was unable to land the forward.
Now, Roman Abramovich could well be about to make his £52 million dreams come true.
Will Torres really be used as bait in a transfer that would rock the winter market? Let us know your thoughts below.
