Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has cracked up the pressure ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s visit to Stamford Bridge this evening, with the Dutch manager questioning whether Spurs have the fight to stay in the title race.
The quotes from the Blues boss were spotted by the Transfer Tavern’s knowledgeable landlord in his copy of The Mirror.
Spurs will need to win at the Bridge on Monday night, otherwise Leicester City will be crowned Premier League champions without kicking a ball.
Hiddink has put a smile back on the faces of the Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern, after a miserable start saw the end of Jose Mourinho’s second spell as manager.
The Blues boss said: “They experience now being at the top.
“I am not too much into statistics, but it’s the first time in their history that they are now at the top end competing for the title.
“In some players it might cause nerves and not by attitude, they might underperform a bit.”
The news has riled the Spurs fans here in the Tavern and as one takes another Sambuca shot to calm the nerves ahead of the massive game, he says he hopes that his team make Hiddink eat his words this evening.
