Chelsea fans are dying to hear the latest claim from Metro here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The publication have claimed that Blues manager Jose Mourinho is refusing to comment on links with Diego Costa – who of course was part of the Atletico Madrid side that knocked out Chelsea this week en route to Lisbon.
Mourinho is desperate to bring in a world class forward this summer and has been linked with a host of star names, not to mention managing to criticise his current forwards at various points this term.
Links with Costa will not go away and we think that given the striker’s own manager Diego Simeone has claimed he would not stand in the way of the adopted Spanish international forward, it seems a move could well be on the cards.
Chelsea boss Mourinho was asked how he saw the Blues’ chances of landing the powerful forward this summer and claimed: “The market is closed. It opens in the summer.
“Chelsea will be calm and quiet during that period, we are not going to be the noisy team buying and selling and selling and buying.
“We are going to do a couple of critical signings.
“Is he [Costa] a striker a target for us? Yes, we never denied that. Is Diego a good player? He is but he is an Atletico Madrid player, so we cannot say much.”
Is Mourinho simply being coy? Do you think a deal to take Costa to Stamford Bridge is agreed behind the scenes? Let us know your thoughts below.
