We expected nothing less than a busy summer for Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern and it seems that Metro feel the same way.
The publication has noted that the Blues’ goalkeeping situation could well be set to get even more complex with Jose Mourinho asking Thibaut Courtois to stay at the club, in turn refusing the suggestion of another loan move.
As one of our punters notes, this of course puts Petr Cech’s future into doubt and we think that the long-serving Blues star will be more than a little bit reluctant to sit on the bench and see his spot taken out from under him.
Not only that but as one of our punters notes, it is harder to rotate goalkeepers than any other player on the field and we know that Mourinho is a firm believer in consistency meaning he will probably pick one keeper at the start of the season and stick with them.
Given the injury to Petr Cech and his potential absence at the start of the season, it seems that the majority of our regulars now think Courtois will be the new number one.
Chelsea fans. Who would you have as your starting keeper next season? Is it a good think to have two world class players in one position or will it cause problems? Let us know your thoughts below.
