Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are moving from our big screen and are convening around the pool table where there is a discussion sparked by Metro regarding Diego Costa and his fitness.
The prolific forward has been the star man for Chelsea and Jose Mourinho this season and his goals have fired them to the top of the Premier League table.
There have however been some large questions over the state of the former Atletico Madrid forward’s hamstring with his involvement in the Spanish national team aggravating the issues further.
Mourinho spoke after yet another goal from his prized forward and admitted: “If he doesn’t go to the national team and if he stays here for 15 days just on treatment, he has the perfect chance to be top for Chelsea and top for the national team.
“If he doesn’t have this period, it will be always, plays one game, the other is in trouble, the muscle is tight, the muscle is in danger of rupture.”
Of course as our regulars note, Costa is vial to the Blues and with a fair fixtures on the horizon including big games against Arsenal and Manchester United, it will be vital for Costa to be at his peak.
Chelsea fans. I’m sure you’d love Costa to stay out of the upcoming Spanish fixtures but do you just have to accept he is as important for La Roja as he is the Blues? Let us know your thoughts below.
