Chelsea supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate to keep hold of Brazilian international defender David Luiz this summer after speculation grew about interest from Barcelona this summer.
Now Mirror Football report that the La Liga champions will now submit a final make or break offer for the 26-year-old as they become frustrated in their chase for the former Benfica centre back.
Luiz is expected to hold discussions with the Stamford Bridge club and new Blues manager Jose Mourinho today as he looks for assurances about his future in SW6.
Reports have suggested that Mourinho would be happy to cash in on the defender who could struggle to fit in with his style of play but the Portuguese manager has been quick to play down the speculation and is expected to inform Luiz that he remains an important part of his plans at Chelsea.
Barcelona reportedly want him to force a transfer to the Camp Nou as they look for a long-term replacement for Carles Puyol but Chelsea have made clear they have no ambition to sell him this summer as Luiz emerged as a major player for the Blues during their Europa League success last season.
This may see the Spanish side having to offer around £45 million to even interest the Blues after earlier having their opening bid turned down by Chelsea last week. A failure to land Luiz could see the Catalan club looking at Liverpool’s Daniel Agger instead.
Should Chelsea rebuff any offers from Barcelona? Or does Luiz have a sell-able price? Let us know your thoughts below.
