Chelsea bracing themselves for world record bid from Spanish giants for goalkeeper

Courtois.jpgSpanish giants Real Madrid are weighing up a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, as their interest in David de Gea wavers.

It is music to the ears of the Manchester United supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern, with many resigned to the possibility of losing their custodian over the summer.

Instead it is those of a Chelsea persuasion who are sobbing into their empty pint pots, with their Belgian stopper now set to be the subject of a world record summer transfer bid from Madrid.

The Blues have already stated that it would take £79 million to sign Courtois, a sum which would see the highest ever transfer of a goalkeeper take place.

At 23-years-old Courtois has a massive future ahead of him, although he has looked seemingly short on confidence during the current campaign – like many of his Chelsea team-mates.

One Blues fan is sat chatting with the landlord about the news which has emerged in The Sun, and he thinks that Courtois is clearly a good stopper but concedes that £79 million is a good price for someone who has underperformed this season.

Chelsea fans, would you be happy to see the back of the Belgian keeper? Who would you like to replace him, if he did leave?
