Chelsea bounced back this week with a demolition job of sorts on Huddersfield Town, claiming a 3-1 victory in Yorkshire to take a much needed three points back down the M1 to London.
The Blues manager Antonio Conte has readily admitted that the defence of their title is now over, but this will not stop them from fighting till the end and securing as high a finish as possible in the Premier League, and results like the one over the Terriers will do them the world of good.
Here at the Tavern, our landlord has enjoyed watching Chelsea for quite some time, but he feels that they are lacking in a few areas, and have not replaced the legendary figure of Frank Lampard as yet.
However, he’s had his eye on some of the talent across Europe, and he thinks that Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar could be the man to fill Lampard’s boots.
At just 19-years-old, the central midfielder is another one off the conveyor belt of young French stars, and this season has been seriously impressive for the French giants.
His ability in the middle of the park for someone so young is something to be marvelled at, and he has already hit the goal trail this term, notching on three occasions already and chipping in with a couple of assists to boot.
He looks to have all the qualities of a future star, and Chelsea could be wise to make a move in January and secure one of Europe’s top talents.
