Top Premiership Clubs have been put on high alert after it was revealed by Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini, that they will consider offers for young starlet Javier Pastore.
The Argentine Playmaker has been linked to a number of top clubs this season including the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona. They will now be getting their cheque books ready given Pastore’s current employers are willing to sell, if the price is right.
Zamparini commented saying;
“If Inter and Juventus want Pastore, they must prove to be as competitive as Chelsea and Barcelona. For me, he will end up in Spain or England, the only countries where the clubs can afford him. But if I am faced with a suitable offer, I will be ready to change my mind,”
Manchester City and Chelsea have been watching Pastore frequently this season but had been refused permission to speak with the player given that Palermo did not want to sell. Zamparini now appears to have given up trying to keep his star player but will not be accepting bids less than £40 million.
Chelsea and Manchester City will not be put off by the amount required but this could prove a stumbling block to other potential suitors such as Barcelona and Manchester United. Barcelona refused to spend this amount on Cesc Fabregas last summer and Sir Alex simply hasn’t got the cash.
Pastore is no doubt a top talent, an attacking midfielder with plenty of traits in his locker. Certainly strong enough for the Premier League, quick but it is his creative skills that would set the league alight. His ability to pick a pass out, while also having the ability to take chances himself, makes Pastore a truly all round attacking midfielder.
