Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern swarmed in their masses to watch the London derby against Arsenal on the screens and they were greeted with positive news on their arrival, which hinted towards a major transfer this week.
The Times states the representatives of Ezequiel Lavezzi are happy with talks held with Chelsea, increasing the likelihood that the Argentine international will leave Paris Saint-Germain for the Premier League next week.
Chelsea’s plans for a deal are not completely confirmed though as reports do not state when the transfer will go ahead, with Lavezzi coming to the end of a four-year deal in the summer and out of the first-team in Paris.
It does say that PSG will approve Lavezzi’s exit without a fee, though it remains to be seen whether the Blues will seal the deal for the 30-year-old forward before the end of the January window or wait until the summer.
Chelsea need attacking additions following a disappointing season, whilst they face the risk of losing Eden Hazard at the end of the season and a decision must be made regarding Pedro Rodriguez, who has struggled since arriving from Barcelona in the summer.
Our landlord isn’t convinced that Lavezzi is the player to get Chelsea out of their current predicament and he’s concerned by the signing of another ageing star, with his belief clear that the Blues need to employ younger players for the future.
Chelsea fans, can Lavezzi save your season? Let us know in the comments below!
