The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are getting twitchy watching on as their Premier League rivals began announcing their summer signings.
With the likes of Victor Lindelof at Manchester United and Bernardo Silva at City, it’s over to the champions to get things going.
Well, with that in mind, it seems there is some good news as reports from The Express have reached the bar which claim an announcement over the signing of former Manchester City ‘keeper Willy Caballero on a free transfer.
The 35-year-old left The Etihad at the end of last season after snubbing a one-year extension from Pep Guardiola, and will come into Stamford Bridge as an understudy to Thibaut Courtois after Asmir Begovic joined Bournemouth.
It’s not a deal which is drumming up too much excitement here in the Tavern, however, it is at least a start for Antonio Conte, who has supposedly been growing frustrated over a lack of movement from the club so far this summer.
Chelsea fans, we want to hear from you! Are you just as desperate to see signings coming through the doors at Stamford Bridge as our punters? What do you make of Caballero? Let us know in the comments below…
