It’s news that has brought smiles to the faces of Chelsea supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening.
The Evening Standard claims that the Blues are closing on completing the permanent deal to bring Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin to Stamford Bridge.
The 27-year-old Colombian was rumoured to be interesting Manchester United in recent weeks but it is now thought that Jose Mourinho’s side have emerged as the leading contenders to land the exciting midfielder when the transfer window opens next month.
Amid heightened speculation in the tavern that the deal is edging closer, Guarin’s agent Marcelo Ferreryra has confirmed that his client has been offered to the Blues in deal worth £15 million.
Ferreryra stated that negotiations had started earlier last week with Chelsea and a deal is in the pipeline, noting: “I can confirm Chelsea’s interest in Fredy and it’s now up to the clubs to discuss a deal. We’ll open talks once they have agreed terms,” to Caracol Radio.
“We have already been to London with Inter and met with Chelsea directors to make their interest formal.
“There have been talks as part of negotiations. If both clubs reach an agreement, a transfer is an option, but Fredy is happy at Inter as well if they don’t agree terms.”
