BBC Sport have the news that all Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have been waiting for after claiming that Diego Costa has finally joined the Blues.
The former Atletico Madrid forward has joined Jose Mourinho’s summer revolution and it has cost the Special One £32 million to get his ‘killer forward’.
Not only have Chelsea shelled out a fair bit of cash for Costa; they have also agreed to a five-year contract for the Spanish international forward.
As one of our punters claims in the tavern over a pint, they will be hoping that is not a five-year Fernando Torres type deal they have agreed to!
Costa seemed thrilled to join the Blues and claimed: “Everybody knows it is a big club in a very competitive league, and I am very excited to get started in England.”
The 25-year-old may not be the only Atleti player that Chelsea shell out on this summer with Filipe Luis close to agreeing a £20 million transfer as well.
This is not to mention the fact that Belgian international goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois looks set to return to his parent club and take up the number one mantle next season.
The Blues have of course already brought in Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona and Mario Pasalic from Hajduk Split so far this summer.
Chelsea fans. Is this music to your ears or are you panicked that Costa will be another forward disaster waiting to happen? Let us know your thoughts below.
