The Guardian suggests the Blues are set to beat both United and Paris Saint-Germain to the signature of 19-year-old Marko Grujic, who has excelled during the calendar year.
Both United and Chelsea are said to have scouted the teenager in recent months, with the Red Devils recently sending representatives to watch the midfielder in action for Red Star Belgrade against rivals FK Rad; where Red Star won 3-0.
However their approaches look likely to end in disappointment, with reports suggesting Chelsea will sweeten their offer by giving Red Star the option of taking Grujic back to Belgrade on-loan.
Likened to current Chelsea star Nemanja Matic, Grujic is seen as an excellent option for the club moving forward and hits Roman Abramovich’s demands of creating a squad of young, excelling players in West London.
Chelsea fans sinking a few at the bar have declared their happiness at this potential arrival, stating they currently need all the help they can get.
United fans, would Grujic develop better at Old Trafford? Let us know in the comments below!
