Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been rubbing their hands in anticipation of quality signings ever since Antonio Conte’s appointment as Blues boss earlier this week and there’s now a big name on the cards.
Pjanic is a crucial asset to Roma but the Italian side are growing increasingly worried that he won’t pen a new deal with the Rome outfit, with his current contract set to expire in 2018.
The 26-year-old has been in electric form for the Serie A title chasers this season, leading the league’s assist charts with 10, and he’s also contributed with an impressive 12 goals across all competitions.
Conte, with his vast knowledge of Italian football, is looking to raid the Serie A for talent this summer and Roma could be a major port of call, with Chelsea also interested in Pjanic’s midfielder partner Radja Nainggolan and defender Kostas Manolas.
With the Blues able to offer significantly higher wages, the players could be tempted to a Premier League move. However, they’ll have to accept the possibility of no European football for at least one season.
