The Times seem to think that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is growing more confident by the day.
His confidence surrounds the fact that he believes can land one of his top targets and we in the Football Transfer Tavern know better than to disagree with him.
The Blues boss seems to think that not only are his club leading the race to sign Cesc Fabregas, but they are also going to get the Barcelona midfielder for under £30 million, having started negotiations off at around £26 million.
Barcelona are not exactly rolling in money this summer and their failure to win any trophies of note last term did not exactly help either.
Therefore, the Catalan giants need the money from the sale of the Spanish international in order to rebuild their squad and buy one player in particular – Atletico Madrid’s Koke.
As one of our punters moves over from the pool table, they note that Chelsea are able to splash the cash unlike Barca.
Given they have already cleared space on the books for wages not to mention agreeing to sell David Luiz to Paris Saint-Germain for big money, a bid and improved contract for Fabregas is not that much of a push for them.
Chelsea fans. Would you pay £30 million for Cesc or do you think there are better players out there to spend money on? Let us know your thoughts below.
