Chelsea confirm loan deal for striker

The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern were hopeful that this deal would happen, and the Blues have finally confirmed it with less than 48 hours to go until the end of the summer transfer window.

The Chelsea faithful here in the Tavern had very high hopes for Patrick Bamford last season, with the young striker set to embark on his first Premier League loan with Crystal Palace after a Player of the Year winning season in the Championship.

However – last year was one to forget for the young forward.

He failed to solidify himself in the Crystal Palace first team, and had relatively little impact throughout a second loan spell with Norwich during the second half of the season.

However, now putting the disappointment of the 2015/16 season behind him – Patrick Bamford has embarked on a new Premier League challenge for the coming year as he looks to rebuild his reputation.

It has been rumoured here in the Football Transfer Tavern for weeks, but Chelsea have today confirmed that Bamford has joined Premier League side Burnley on a season long loan.

The young forward will likely be keen to make an immediate impact at the club as he looks to build himself a platform for success in the Premier League.

He may well get that chance too; with regular front man Andre Gray set to face an extended period on the sidelines following a recent FA charge.

Bamford has spent the majority of his time with Chelsea on loan, and everywhere he has gone he has made a splash.

Football fans from across the country have been popping their heads through the Football Transfer Tavern front door to say how much of an impact he has made at their clubs – with side’s including Middlesborough, Derby and MK Dons the latest to benefit from the English striker’s goals.

Whilst last season definitely represented a dip in form; his several years in the lower leagues proved that he is a natural goalscorer; regardless of who he is playing for. Burnley are getting a prolific front man – whichever way you spin it.

Our landlord reckons that one good Premier League season from Bamford could see him forced into Antonio Conte’s plans for next season…

Chelsea fans – pleased about this loan deal? Burnley fans – Do you think he will hit the ground running?
