The Daily Star are keeping Chelsea fans on their toes here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as they claim that the Blues are considering re-signing one of their former players.
As our punters note, that is not something foreign to Chelsea – they managed to resign Nemanja Matic, albeit for far more than they initially paid for him, and now it seems that one of their former forwards has managed to get himself back on their radar.
Chelsea are reportedly after Liverpool star Daniel Sturridge, who they of course sold to the Reds last January.
In a move that could have been described as something a double agent would be proud of, Rafael Benitez let the forward leave and has now seen him become simply prolific for the Reds.
The England international is one half of the SAS and has been one of the best players in the league this season.
We think that he deserves all the plaudits that he is getting, and one of our punters admits that if the forward would’ve stayed at Chelsea, he would not have developed in the way he has.
Now Jose Mourinho is pondering a move to bring Sturridge back to Stamford Bridge, although we are pretty sure Brendan Rodgers would have something to say about that!
We cannot see Sturridge wanting to trade Anfield for Stamford Bridge again in a million years. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts below.
