Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have their head in their hands today, after reports suggested the club is ready to admit they’ve made another major transfer mistake.
The London Evening Standard says Chelsea are monitoring their former youth ace Josh McEachran and could bring him back to Stamford Bridge, just one-year after selling him to Brentford for a fee of £750k.
23-year-old McEachran has had opportunities with Brentford limited this season, having broken his foot twice, but the Blues have not ruled out bringing him back to Stamford Bridge in the future.
For fans at the club it’s an extremely concerning trend, given that Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne were both sold early and are now worth in excess of £100m combined and have been starring for Premier League rivals, whilst Nemanja Matic was sold and re-signed.
It’s also further evidence of youngsters graduating from the Blues academy failing to earn chances in the first-team, with the last academy player to establish himself at Chelsea being John Terry- who’s now approaching the end of his career.
Our landlord is increasingly concerned by Chelsea’s lack of faith in their youngsters and hopes it improves, although he doesn’t see the situation changing under Antonio Conte.
Chelsea fans, would re-signing this man just be more embarrassment? Let us know in the comments below.
