Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern this afternoon can’t quite believe what they’re hearing, after reports indicated a star-man could make way in January for the arrival of some fresh faces.
The Guardian states that Chelsea’s concerns over striker Diego Costa have increased following a half-time spat with manager Jose Mourinho during the Blues’ Champions Leagues victory on Tuesday evening.
It was the latest in a long-line of controversial incidents for the Spanish international, who has been banned by the Football Association already this season for his behaviour during the London derby against Arsenal.
Costa, an integral part of the title success last season, has suffered from an immense loss of form this calendar year and sensationally has just seven goals in his last ten months of football with Chelsea.
That, added to Chelsea’s other issues, has been a major factor in the Blues’ struggles this season as they sit 15th in the Premier League table, having already lost seven games this season.
Chelsea fans in the bar admit that their striker has been struggling and uninspiring but are confident he can turn things around, stating they’d rather competition for him was signed rather than an out-and-out replacement.
Should Chelsea replace Diego Costa? Is he a liability? Let us know in the comments below!
