Chelsea cooling interest on world-class boss

Atletico MadridChelsea fans enjoying a pitcher in the Transfer Tavern beer garden are unsure what to make with the latest reports they’ve just read, which suggests a favourite for their vacant managerial role looks unlikely to get the job.

The Daily Mail state Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich is cooling interest in Atletico Madrid’s highly-rated boss Diego Simeone, as he’s unsure about the Argentine’s playing style.

Chelsea remain unbeaten since Jose Mourinho was dismissed in December but Guus Hiddink’s reign is only temporary and the Dutchman will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Whilst Simeone was one of the bookies favourites to take the role, after incredible success in the Spanish capital, but Abramovich feels his playing style is too similar to that of the axed Mourinho.

Instead, the Chelsea hierarchy prefers Juventus’ Massimiliano Allegri and Italy boss Antonio Conte, both of whom have enjoyed tremendous success in Italian football.

Our landlord believes Simeone should be the leading contender though and has urged Chelsea to appoint the Argentine, should he be available.
