The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern think that he has a bright future in Blue…
Kenneth Omeruo has had a strange career trajectory as of late, but it would appear that the Chelsea brass still have high hopes for the young Nigerian.
An established international defender despite his tender years, Omeruo has often been on the cusp of the first team at Chelsea for a while – only to be loaned out each year.
He is currently playing for Alanyaspor in Turkey, as part of a one-year loan move.
Now, for the first time, the young defender has spoken out about how his current loan deal came to be, and has revealed that it came via a failed move to his preferred destination.
He added: “I went with the team where I will be playing regularly and who will not be fighting against going down.”
A few eyebrows were raised when Omeruo joined Alanyaspor, given that he is held in high regard by the Chelsea faithful. Besiktas are a much more reasonable option – so that definitely makes sense.
The Nigeran defender is currently partaking on his 4th loan spell away from his parent club, having joined the Blues in 2012.
He made his international debut in 2013, and has gone to make 31 appearances for the Super Eagles.
The Chelsea fans in the Tavern are hoping that he might be given a chance in a Chelsea shirt next season…
