Chelsea demanding £10m from Premier League rivals for excelling defender

Give the kids a chanceChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased with the firm stance their club is adopting towards one of their young assets, as it’s stated the club have placed a high valuation upon the player.

The Telegraph says Chelsea will demand at least £10m for the signature of left-back Nathan Ake this summer, who’s attracting a wealth of interest after impressing during a loan stint with Watford.

Those performances have left the Hornets looking for a permanent transfer, whilst West Ham and Liverpool have also expressed interest, but the final decision will come down to new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

Conte could decide to keep the player at Stamford Bridge next season and a second-year on-loan has not been ruled out, meaning any interested parties faces a number of hoops they need to jump through in order to land a deal.

Chelsea have struggled in the full-back areas this season and will be wary of a premature sale, after seeing Ryan Bertrand become an England international and a Premier League star following his sale to Southampton.

Ake has expressed his desire to return to west London, as long as he gets game time, whilst German side Borussia Monchengladbach have also been touted as a possible destination.

Whatever this summer brings, it’s clear any side looking to sign Ake permanently faces a wealth of issues.
