Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have expressed their surprise after it as reported they’d joined the hunt for one of Europe’s most valuable players.
Spanish media outlet AS say the defending Premier League champion have joined the hunt for Cristiano Ronaldo, rivalling the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain for his signature.
30-year-old Ronaldo is tipped to leave the Spanish capital next year after a hugely successful seven years at the club, where the former United star has added numerous individual and team accolades to his vast trophy collection.
Whilst Chelsea, who sit 16th in the Premier League table, won’t be fancied to capture the three-time Ballon D’Or winner’s signature they do have one big connection as Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho share the same agent, Jorge Mendes.
However, beating PSG to Ronaldo’s signature will be extremely difficult and if Ronaldo was to return to English football it’s unlikely he would feature for any other side that United; whom he starred with until his exit in 2009.
