One thing that punters in the Football Transfer Tavern were sure of when Jose Mourinho returned to Chelsea was that the manager would pull the squad together and the ‘Jose effect’ would see calm restored to the Blues.
That is exactly what Metro report John Terry thinks has happened, and despite all the new arrivals and competition for places, the club are happier than ever.
As our punters order some food from the menu, they make the valid point that Mourinho may have come in happier and more reserved than in his previous reign at the club, but he still managed to cast Juan Mata onto the sidelines and bring in a host of players who could have easily destabilised the other squad members.
Skipper Terry claims this has not been the case however, and noted: “We are looking fit and very much together and that is because of Jose.
“His man-management is excellent and he makes people want to play for him. He has come home and all the players want to play for him.
“We are very much back in the same mould again. Hopefully what we know and what Jose knows about the Premier League will make the difference in the title race.”
Quite if this will remain the same in January when it becomes clear who Mourinho wants to keep at the club and who he sees as deadwood remains to be seen and our punters think there could be some bumps in the road ahead – with Juan Mata again being linked with Barcelona today.
