Chelsea fans are looking pleased today here in the Football Transfer Tavern after it was claimed that the club were moving closer to one of their top targets for the summer – according to Metro that is.
The club have been chasing Vitesse Arnhem’s Marco van Ginkel for some time now and had been thought to be the front runners in any deal that could be completed for the 20-year-old Dutch international.
Of course nothing goes simply in the world of football and Manchester United are also thought to be keeping an eye on the movements of the young player.
Despite this, the talented starlet seems to be on the verge of a move to Stamford Bridge, with his agent noting that: “I have spoken to Jose Mourinho and there have been very serious talks about a deal.
“There are other clubs interested, but the talks with Mourinho have been very positive.”
Chelsea of course have already landed Bayer Leverkusen’s Andre Schurrle this summer and have seen a bid of around £8 million snubbed for van Ginkel and will need to raise nearly double that if they want to land his services.
Mourinho is also reportedly looking to make a move for Napoli’s in-demand striker Edinson Cavani this summer after the Serie A club’s official radio station announced a deal had been met earlier this week.
Chelsea have been linked with van Ginkel all summer. Will they finally pull off his signing? Rate this rumour below.
