Chelsea edging closer to Serie A giant- agents in London to finalise move

Chelsea’s transfer window has gotten off to an extremely slow start indeed and the Blues fans lining the bar here in the Tavern want to see some action!

The Blues look to have missed out on the big-money capture of Romelu Lukaku after Manchester United announced this morning that a fee has been agreed with Everton for the forward, leaving Antonio Conte extremely short of striking options for the season ahead.

The well-documented departure of Diego Costa is what’s been the big news story down at Stamford Bridge this summer but finally, it seems that Chelsea are making their move for one player in particular.

According to Sky Sports, the Blues are moving in on the capture of Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, with the agents involved in the deal reportedly meeting in London earlier today.

A £34million fee is thought to be the amount being paid to the Italian giants and the German will now slot into the back-four following John Terry’s departure to Aston Villa earlier this summer.

He’s been one of the most highly rated defenders in Serie A over the past couple of years and whilst this might not be the striker some Chelsea fans are calling out for, it’s certainly a decent bit of business to have made.

Chelsea fans- what do you make of Rudiger? Will he make your defence even stronger for next season? Leave your thoughts down below!
