Chelsea enter race for long-term Manchester United target

William CarvalhoChelsea fans are looking impressed here in the Football Transfer Tavern after our landlord tells them of the latest claim coming from Metro.

The publication seems to think that the Blues will be making a move for William Carvalho and making sure that they, and not Manchester United, are first in line to sign the highly-rated Sporting Lisbon star.

The Blues are considering making the move for the Portuguese international midfielder and as one of our punters points out over a pint, Jose Mourinho is clearly not messing about when it comes to improving his squad in their chase for an actual trophy next season.

The Special One is fully aware that even the fans will not tolerate another failed season.

Manchester United meanwhile are desperate for cover in the middle of the park and it seems that Louis van Gaal may well miss out on one of their top picks after Chelsea moved ahead of them in the race for the £30 million-rated player.

Given they no longer throw money at players – apparently – Chelsea are only prepared to offer around £11 million and a player moving to Sporting on loan for the upcoming season.

Chelsea fans. Do you think this is a good idea? Would you be willing to let one of your players leave? Do you hope it is Victor Moses? Let us know your thoughts below.
