The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been waiting for this deal for a while…
According to the Guardian, Chelsea are ‘expected’ to agree on a deal with Bournemouth this summer for Asmir Begovic, with the Bosnian unhappy at his lack of game time at Stamford Bridge.
Begovic has, of course, rarely featured under Antonio Conte this season, with Thibaut Courtois the undisputed number one in the Premier League.
That being said, Begovic has impressed when given an opportunity – having made sporadic appearances domestically throughout the campaign. Strong in the air, agile and a fantastic shot-stopper, there is no doubting that he is deserving of a more prominent role with Bournemouth.
Thibaut Courtois, who has regularly played in front of Begovic this year, looks set to stay meanwhile – with the Blues reportedly set to offer the Belgian fresh terms on a new deal this summer. It seems likely that any deal for the Belgian will facilitate the departure of Begovic – with Conte able to feel confident that Courtois will stay if he happens to sign a new deal.
Begovic has made just 8 appearances this season.
