Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are joking that their starting line-up could be sourced entirely from Italy, as speculation regarding signings from the Serie A continue to intensify.
TalkSport, citing reports from Italian outlet TuttoSport, state Chelsea have added Roma defender Kostas Manolas as the latest name to their transfer wish-list, as they aim to rejuvenate their defensive line.
The Blues will wave goodbye to captain John Terry after 19 years of service this summer and face a huge test to replace him, whilst their back-line has looked shaky this term and could do with being re-assembled anyway.
Antonio Conte is a big fan of Greek international Manolas and is ready to sound-out the player’s representatives about a move to the Premier League, although Roma aren’t keen on a sale as it would be paying a sizeable fee to Olympiacos.
However, our landlord doesn’t think this transfer is guaranteed as Chelsea have been linked with a wide variety of defenders this summer and he predicts only two additions will be made in this area.
