The Portuguese boss is under immense pressure, with the lads at the pool table demanding he stops all this media malarkey and concentrates on his results, but injury problems have heaped more complications onto the former Real Madrid boss.
Thibaut Courtois’ extended absence has left a gaping big hole in their defence but Mourinho, to the delight of the Blues punters, has an emergency plan.
The Daily Mail declares that Mourinho has invited free-agent Marco Amelia on trial as he looks to provide cover for Courtois, who’s out until January.
Amelia, a former AC Milan goalkeeper, would be allowed to sign outside the transfer window as he was not connected to another club when the transfer window closed- and Chelsea have room within their 25-man squad.
Asmir Begovic and Jamal Blackman are currently the goalkeeping duo behind Courtois but the injury to the Belgian has left Mourinho wanting another face to add to his goalkeeping contingent.
Punters at the bar aren’t too impressed though, as Chelsea lost a world-class goalkeeper in Petr Cech this summer as the 33-year-old joined Arsenal. Had he stayed, then our Blues boys wouldn’t be so grumpy.
