The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are liking the sound of this…
There is an air of anticipation amongst the Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern, as they wait to see Antonio Conte’s plans for the January transfer window.
The new year might still be a few months away, but that has not stopped anyone in the Tavern from plotting and scheming – and it would appear that Conte himself has done the same.
According to the Mirror, Conte is already looking towards January beyond – as he eyes a move for PSG star Marco Verratti.
The Italian was, of course, a part of Conte’s plans when he was the manager of the Italian national team, and the young central midfielder has quickly turned into one of Europe’s finest deep-lying playmakers.
Interestingly, the Mirror also notes that both Fabregas and Mikel are free to leave the club – suggesting that Verratti could be seen as a long-term replacement to the veteran duo.
The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are huge fans of Marco Verratti – who has proven his quality against the Blues on a number of occasions in recent years. It has come as no surprise to them that the Blues are reportedly keen, as many of them see Verratti as Europe’s most talented youngster.
Our landlord thinks that this could just be the start of Conte’s spending, and he thinks that the Chelsea boss will continue to look towards his ex-players as he seeks more familiarity in the Chelsea first team.
Verratti is a player very much of the ilk of Cesc Fabregas, but the Italian obviously has both age and familiarity on his side. He was a favourite under Conte, and you would expect that to continue should he make the move to London.
Whilst the Mirror do not specify when a move could happen, our landlord thinks that a summer move is more likely.
