Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern sitting by the bar and declaring the need for new signings have been distracted by intriguing reports in today’s press, which state their strike-force could be reshuffled.
The Daily Mirror states Chelsea are monitoring Watford forward Odion Ighalo ahead of a summer swoop, with Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao extremely unlikely to remain at Stamford Bridge beyond the end of the season.
Chelsea sensationally sit just four points above the relegation zone after 22 matches played, with the lack of an in-form striker proving to be extremely problematic for Guus Hiddink’s side.
Therefore, Chelsea have joined Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal in the hunt for Watford’s talented forward- who has impressed in his inaugural season in the top-flight, scoring 13 times in 23 appearances.
Watford have ruled-out a departure this month, which means Ighalo won’t be a short-term fix for the Blues, but Chelsea are considering him as an option amid a major squad overhaul in the summer- which is likely to see many ins and outs in West London.
Our landlord believes the Blues will struggle to lure Ighalo to the club though, as he feels the forward will want to join a Champions League side.
